Richard Wilkins
We recently learnt of the sad death of Richard Wilkins, who was General Secretary and the face of ACT for many years. His thanksgiving service was held this week on Tuesday near St Albans, and Tim Coles, ACT's chair paid tribute to his legacy during the occasion.
The Association of Christian Teachers came into being in 1971 and Richard became its General Secretary in 1976. He continued in post until 2002. Richard, naturally, was mentioned in ACT’s special Summer ‘21 Journal, celebrating 50 years of ACT: ‘(Richard) was highly regarded, inside and outside of the Association, and his tenure helped enable ACT to be all it was and, by God’s grace, continues to be.’
Leave a Tribute:
At this difficult time for Richard's family, we would like to provide an opportunity for them to celebrate his legacy through the sharing of our fondest memories and heartfelt tributes. Many of you will feel a great debt of gratitude to Richard and would appreciate the opportunity to express your tributes.
For this reason, we're asking that you share with us any memories or tributes that you would may have. We intend to have an extended tribute in ACT's next journal and request that your thanks, thoughts and feelings on Richard's life of service and commitment to ACT be recorded via this form to help us.
