SEND monies to increase.

Local councils across England are to receive an extra £215 million to improve the education of children with special educational needs and disability, the Department for Education announced today.

The amounts being allocated vary from £500,000 to more than £6.5 million, but are a “drop in the ocean” compared with what is actually needed, according to teaching unions.

However, the government claims the new funding will “transform the lives of thousands of children with special educational needs and disabilities, by increasing school capacity and making it easier for them to access good school places”.
