Principal St Andrew's Turi

Principal St Andrew's Turi

St Andrew’s, Turi is one of the leading schools in East Africa.  It was founded in 1931 and now has over 550 students drawn from throughout the region, the rest of Africa and Europe.  Its distinctive features include:

One of the best-performing schools in the region, teaching the British curriculum and with considerable success in securing places at leading universities in the UK, the US and elsewhere

A full boarding school, with outstanding facilities and a strong commitment to pastoral care

A unique location in the Kenyan highlands, with a wonderful climate and 300 acres of grounds surrounded by stunning scenery

An active Christian ethos in which the Christian faith is genuinely at the heart of the School.

For the first time in its history, St Andrew’s is appointing a Principal of the whole School.  The Principal will have oversight of the College (the sixth form), the Senior School, the Prep School and the Bursary and will also have specific responsibility for the operation of the Senior School.  St Andrew’s has a growing reputation as a leading school and an excellent and consistently improving track record in academic outcomes. This post offers an outstanding opportunity to build on this success and to take the School to the next level.  A start date of September 2015 is envisaged.

The Principal of St Andrew’s School is expected to be in agreement with and fully committed to the Christian aims, ethos and educational philosophy of the School.  He/she must be a committed Christian for whom a personal faith in the Lord Jesus is at the centre of his/her life and who is able to give a dynamic, mature and sensitive lead to the spiritual life of the School.  Specific experience sought includes: co-education and boarding together with an understanding of and commitment to the busy life of an independent boarding school; education in an international and/or multi-cultural context; and the British curriculum.
