for Christians working in education

Head of Prep School St Andrew's Turi.

Head of Prep School St Andrew's Turi.

St Andrew’s, Turi is one of the leading schools in East Africa.  It was founded in 1931 and now has over 550 students drawn from throughout the region, the rest of Africa and Europe.  Its distinctive features include:

One of the best-performing schools in the region, teaching the British curriculum and with considerable success in securing places at leading universities in the UK, the US and elsewhere

A full boarding school, with outstanding facilities and a strong commitment to pastoral care

A unique location in the Kenyan highlands, with a wonderful climate and 300 acres of grounds surrounded by stunning scenery

An active Christian ethos in which the Christian faith is genuinely at the heart of the School.

Following the appointment of its existing head as Head of Dean Close Prep School in the UK, St Andrew’s wishes to appoint a Head of its Prep School with effect from September 2015.  The school has 250 students and retains its own identity and ethos within the wider school.  It offers outstanding pastoral care, and a dual commitment to academic excellence, with students studying for Common Entrance, and to a broad range of extra-curricular activities.

The Head of the Prep School is expected to be in agreement with and fully committed to the Christian aims, ethos and educational philosophy of the School.  He/she must be a committed Christian for whom a personal faith in the Lord Jesus is at the centre of his/her life and who is able to give a dynamic, mature and sensitive lead to the spiritual life of the School.  Specific experience sought includes: co-education and boarding together with an understanding of and commitment to the busy life of an independent boarding school; education in an international and/or multi-cultural context; and the British curriculum.
