Girls to play rugby at primary school.

A top female rugby player said more girls being introduced to the sport at primary school will boost the game.

England scrum half Leanne Riley said she was “lucky” her school offered mixed tag rugby to pupils. 

The 23-year-old personal trainer, who plays in her spare time and is part of England’s Women Six Nations squad, but was not picked for Saturday’s 25-19 win over Italy, said: “I started mixed tag rugby in primary school aged about nine or 10. I was lucky I got that one opportunity to start it at a young age.
