24-7 Prayer Stanford are a Christian community who champion young people in Corringham and Stanford-le-Hope, Essex.

We achieve this through offering holistic and long-term support through targeted education and an emphasis on meeting emotional and practical needs.

Alternative Provision Coordinator (English specialist)

We are looking for a talented and charismatic individual to join our dynamic schools team. The Alternative Provision Coordinator will play an integral role within our overarching work with young people in Stanford-le-Hope. The candidate will be a qualified English teacher and have experience in leadership and working with at-risk young people. They will be assertive, highly motivated, a creative thinker, compassionate and able to communicate professionally/effectively with young people, their families and other services.

 

32 hours per week

Salary: Competitive - based on experience

 

Core Duties

  • Be a fully committed member of 24-7 Prayer Stanford and its schools team: serving the town through supporting young people, their families & local schools
  • To build quality, professionalism and excellence in the alternative provision; exceeding governmental standards set for alternative provision
  • Deliver and co-ordinate lessons to small groups of young people, suited to individual learning needs, cultivating independent thought and encouraging student’s desire to learn
  • Develop the provision through strategical thinking; building structures and systems that will bring efficiency and proficiency
  • Build confidence and competence of tutors and develop staff skill base

*Duties and responsibilities of the post may change over time as requirements and circumstances change.  The person in the post may also be required to carry out such other duties as may be necessary from time to time.

You will be a prayerful, mission minded individual. You will be passionate about working with poor and vulnerable young people; and seeing those disengaged with education achieve greatness in their academic studies. You will use this passion to drive the alternative provision to being outstanding.

 

You will be able to confidently teach English and a variety of subjects; being able to plan to student’s learning needs. You will have skills in working in an informal environment and have creativity in bringing about student learning. You will be organised, able to keep records, work within safeguarding practices and follow organisational policies. You can curate new policies/procedures to meet Governmental requirements. You can work towards deadlines and can multitask, managing multiple responsibilities.

 

You will have experience in working young people from challenging backgrounds. You will have experience of working in a team and working in creative/pioneering projects. You can demonstrate intuition, good decision making and have robust leadership skills. You will have experience of monitoring and evaluating. You will have good punctuality, a strong work ethic and can be assertive, where appropriate; especially when setting boundaries for young people.
